McDonald’s celebrates 35 years in Greece with new flagship restaurant at The Mall Athens

McDonald’s is marking 35 years in Greece with the opening of a new flagship restaurant at The Mall Athens, operated by Premier Capital Hellas, located in Greece’s most popular retail and leisure hubs.

Since opening its first restaurant in Syntagma in 1991, McDonald’s has steadily expanded its presence in the Greek market, strengthening its connection with local communities. Today, McDonald’s Greece welcomes thousands of guests every day, sells more than 26 million burgers annually and has grown into one of the country’s most recognised restaurant brands.

Since Premier Capital became the Developmental Licencee for McDonald’s in Greece in 2011, more than €53 million has been invested to expand and modernise the network, growing from 18 restaurants to 33 locations nationwide.

A restaurant design inspired by McDonald’s Headquarters in Chicago

The new restaurant features McDonald’s “Project Ray” concept, adapted for Greece, with the space drawing inspiration from McDonald’s Chicago Global Headquarters and the high-tech efficiency of the unique Hong Kong “Mood Engine” flagship restaurant, combining a sleek modern design, digital innovation and operational efficiency.

 MAK: The name locals have used for decades

This is also the only McDonald’s location in Greece to feature signage in Greek, reflecting the strong connection the brand has built with Greek customers over the past 35 years, where it has become widely known as “MAK.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle, together with Melo Hili, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Premier Capital, and Vladimir Janevski, Managing Director of Premier Capital Hellas.
