Premier Restaurants Malta and Local Councils Unite to Keep Għargħur Clean

Monday 7th April 2025

Premier Restaurants Malta, the operator of McDonald’s in Malta, has partnered with the Eastern Regional Council (Reġjun Lvant) and the Ħal Għargħur Local Council to install 20 bins Top of the World, Għargħur. A favourite spot for both locals and visitors, the site has struggled with ongoing littering challenges. This initiative aims to promote responsible waste disposal and enhance the cleanliness of the area.

Key locations for easy waste disposal

The new co-branded bins have been placed in key locations, making it easier for people to dispose of their waste properly. A more frequent collection schedule is also in place to help keep the area clean and well-maintained.

“At McDonald’s we believe in taking meaningful actions that contribute to the well-being of the communities we serve. Partnering with the local council on this initiative is a simple yet effective way to help keep public spaces clean and enjoyable for everyone,” said Peter Hili, Managing Director of Premier Restaurants Malta.

Anthony Chircop, President of Reġjun Lvant, highlighted the value of working together to tackle environmental challenges: “By working together with private sector partners like McDonald’s, we can implement sustainable solutions that keep our public spaces clean and well-maintained.” Ħal Għargħur Mayor Helene Gauci echoed this, adding, “We’re proud to be part of this initiative, which encourages responsible waste disposal and helps maintain the cleanliness of our community.”

Keeping Top of the World clean

This project forms part of McDonald’s Malta’s ongoing efforts to support the community through clean-up events, local sustainability initiatives, and partnerships focused on improving waste management.

With these bins in place, McDonald’s Malta and its partners are making it easier for everyone to keep Top of the World clean – helping to ensure it remains a welcoming space for all who visit.
